The Princeton University Subsurface Hydrology Research Group focuses on fluid flows in permeable earth materials, with an emphasis on mathematical and computational models for multi-phase flow. Scales of interest range from the pore-scale to the basin-scale, and applications focus on geological carbon sequestration as well as problems associated with shale-gas systems and methane leakage. Specific research interests include:

• Carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration in deep geological formations as a carbon mitigation strategy.
• Multi-scale models for CO2 injection, migration, and leakage.
• Leakage of CO2 and Brine along wells, faults and fractures.
• Measurement of Methane Leakage from Abandoned and Orphaned Oil and Gas Wells.
• Infrastructure for Large-scale CCS Development in the United States.
